The countdown begins for the first edition of the Transplant World Football Cup. As many as 300 people are expected in Cervia, Romagna, including athletes (all heart, lung, liver, bone marrow, cornea or kidney transplant recipients), chaperones, coaches and volunteers.

Not only soccer, then, but also a lot of sociability in an effort to promote the gift of life. The “starting whistle” for the week of inclusive sports will be sounded on Sunday, September 8, at the Cervia Sports Hall for the grand opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony

The ceremony will commence at 21:00 with a grand parade of delegations, highlighting the diverse participants from around the world. This will be followed by official speeches from authorities, adding a touch of formality and significance to the occasion. The evening will then move to a captivating show, promising entertainment and delight for all attendees. To top it all off, a welcome drink will be served, a perfect opportunity for guests to celebrate the start of this remarkable event.

The public conference: CHECK THE PROGRAM

On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 11, 2024, a Conference will be organized to address the topic of transplantation as a global right for every person in need. The event will run from 16:30 to 18:30 and will feature numerous distinguished guests, professionals, patients and testimonials sharing their successes and hopes in the field of organ transplantation. The conference will highlight the essential role of sports as an indispensable therapy for both individuals and transplanted organs. It will include a keynote lecture by Sofie Leunis, Researcher at Leuven University Hospitals (BE), titled “The Strength of Muscle Strength” The Conference will be held at the Palazzo dei Congressi, located 3.8 km from the Hotel, a distance covered in 10 minutes by our shuttle buses. Continuous shuttle service will begin from the hotel at 15:30, and simultaneous English-Italian translation will be available.

The closing ceremony

The Gala Dinner will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024, starting at 20:30, at the Hotel, where a dedicated room will be transformed to celebrate athletes, coaches, officials, and organizers in an atmosphere of elegance and prestige. Music will accompany the dinner, and at the end of the evening, the champions of the inaugural World Transplant Football Cup will be called to receive their awards: there will be participation medals for all, and special accolades will be given out, including the coveted WTGF Trophy. The best scorer, best player, best goalkeeper, and the team that has displayed the highest level of fair play will also be honored with distinctive awards. Additionally, gold, silver, and bronze medals will be presented to the top teams, marking their outstanding achievements in this historic event The dress code is elegant, which means that attendees are encouraged to wear formal attire. For men, this typically includes a suit and tie, while women are invited to wear evening gowns or cocktail dresses.

The soccer tournament, played over 5 rounds, will be played every day from Tuesday to Friday: finals will be played on Friday, semifinals on Thursday.

Inizia il conto alla rovescia per la prima edizione della Transplant World Football Cup, la coppa mondiale di calcio per trapiantati. Ben 300 le persone attese a Cervia, in Romagna, tra atleti (tutte persone trapiantate di cuore, polmone, fegato, midollo osseo, cornea o rene), accompagnatori, tecnici e volontari.

Non solo calcio, poi, ma anche tanta socialità nell’intento di promuovere il dono della vita. Il “fischio di inizio” della settimana di sport inclusivo si suonerà domenica 8 settembre, al Palazzetto dello sport di Cervia, per la grande cerimonia di apertura.

La cerimonia di apertura

La festa alle 21 con una grande sfilata di delegazioni, che metterà in evidenza i diversi partecipanti provenienti da tutto il mondo. Seguiranno i discorsi ufficiali delle autorità, che daranno un tocco di formalità e significato all’occasione. La serata si sposterà poi su uno spettacolo accattivante, che promette intrattenimento e piacere a tutti i partecipanti. Per finire, verrà servito un aperitivo di benvenuto, un’occasione perfetta per gli ospiti per festeggiare l’inizio di questo evento straordinario.

La conferenza pubblica
I momenti di socialità non si esauriranno con la cerimonia di apertura. Per il pomeriggio di mercoledì 11 settembre 2024, è prevista la conferenza pubblica per affrontare il tema del trapianto come diritto globale. L’evento si svolgerà al Palacongressi di Milano Marittima, dalle 16:30 alle 18:30 (QUI IL PROGRAMMA DETTAGLIATO) e vedrà la partecipazione di numerosi ospiti illustri, professionisti, pazienti e testimonial che condivideranno i loro successi e le loro speranze nel campo dei trapianti di organi.
La conferenza metterà in evidenza il ruolo essenziale dello sport come terapia indispensabile sia per le persone che per gli organi trapiantati. Includerà una conferenza di Sofie Leunis, ricercatrice presso gli Ospedali Universitari di Leuven (BE), dal titolo “The Strength of Muscle Strength” (La forza della forza muscolare) La conferenza si terrà presso il Palazzo dei Congressi, situato a 3,8 km dall’hotel, una distanza coperta in 10 minuti dai nostri bus navetta. Il servizio navetta continuo inizierà dall’hotel alle 15:30 e sarà disponibile la traduzione simultanea inglese-italiano.

La cerimonia di chiusura

La settimana di sport e vita terminerà quindi con la cena di gala si terrà venerdì 13 settembre, a partire dalle 20:30, al Club Hotel Cervia Village, dove una sala dedicata sarà trasformata per celebrare atleti, allenatori, funzionari e organizzatori in un’atmosfera di eleganza e prestigio. La musica accompagnerà la cena e, al termine della serata, i campioni della prima Coppa del Mondo di Calcio per Trapiantati saranno chiamati a ricevere i loro premi: ci saranno medaglie di partecipazione per tutti e saranno assegnati riconoscimenti speciali, tra cui l’ambito Trofeo WTGF. Saranno premiati anche il miglior marcatore, il miglior giocatore, il miglior portiere e la squadra che ha dimostrato il più alto livello di fair play. Inoltre, saranno consegnate medaglie d’oro, d’argento e di bronzo alle squadre migliori, per sottolineare i loro straordinari risultati in questo storico evento. Il codice di abbigliamento è elegante, il che significa che i partecipanti sono invitati a indossare un abbigliamento formale. Per gli uomini, questo include solitamente giacca e cravatta, mentre le donne sono invitate a indossare abiti da sera o da cocktail.

Il torneo di calcio, giocato su 5 gironi, si disputerà tutti i giorni dal martedì al venerdì: le finali si giocheranno venerdì, le semifinali il giovedì.
